New Tatkal Booking Rules (Effective 01 July 2025) – What You Need to Know!

Indian Railways is set to roll out new Tatkal booking rules starting 1st July 2025, aiming to streamline the process and enhance security. If you’re someone who frequently books Tatkal tickets, especially at the last minute, here’s a clear breakdown of what’s changing:

🔐 For Aadhaar Users:

* From 01.07.2025, Tatkal bookings through the IRCTC website or app will be allowed only for users authenticated via Aadhaar.

* OTP-based Aadhaar verification becomes mandatory from 15.07.2025.

TIPS :

Make sure your Aadhaar is linked and ready with IRCTC to avoid last-minute !

🧾 For Non-Aadhaar Users:

Tatkal tickets can still be booked at PRS Counters and through authorized agents (YTSK).
However, from 15.07.2025, these bookings will also require OTP verification sent to the booking person's mobile number.

💡 Tip: Keep your mobile handy and ensure it can receive OTPs during booking.

Time Restriction Alert!

Authorized agents will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the booking window.
